When you think of a better tomorrow, all of a sudden everything is possible.

A green facade from edGreen is constructed from patented concrete blocks that can be glued or stacked sustainably (C2C) to create a wall or facade. Irrigation pipes are integrated into these blocks, which are watered and fed by a standalone or web-based system. The vertical cavities in the brick are filled with substrate, while plants are planted in the openings at the front.

The purpose of the wall determines the choice of plants. A vegetable garden growing strawberries, herbs, and vegetables requires different principles than a low-maintenance visual wall. Certain plants are ideal for a noise barrier next to a highway, while others are more suitable for the facade of a school or home. We will work with you to create a plant mix tailored to your project and the surrounding environment.

Detailing

Our system can be used as an outer cavity wall, an inner wall, and even a freestanding garden wall. edGreen can create the construction drawings with connections and details in AutoCAD (2D) or Revit (3D/BIM). Our sister company is an architectural firm specializing in sustainable and energy-neutral design, where the green wall is naturally fully utilized in the architecture. They are fully familiar with the ins and outs of the system we developed.

Advantages

  • fine dust is captured by plants and then washed away and removed by rain
  • Absorbs up to 50% of sunlight and has a cooling effect. In an urban environment, this, combined with evaporation, can lead to a temperature reduction of 3 degrees. Inside, behind the green facade, cooling can consume up to 30% less energy.
  • annually, approximately 2-2.5 kg of CO2 per m2 is converted into oxygen
  • has an acoustic sound-absorbing effect (about 30 to 40% compared to a brick facade) and provides more peace and quiet
  • Green and sustainable appearance. The seasons are visible on the building, and green interior walls ensure higher labor productivity and lower absenteeism.
  • biodiversity in and around the building of bees, spiders and birds
