We cannot escape the responsibility of tomorrow by evading it today.
Reflecting the seasons in the built environment, cooling the city in summer, reducing noise levels, or simply creating a more beautiful and welcoming built environment that not only exudes respect for nature but also fosters enjoyment.
Due to densification, large parts of the city are devoid of any greenery. Greening these areas is only possible through the use of green roofs and facades. Green facades, however, add greenery to cities without taking up land area.
Living environment
Just like green roofs, vertical greenery also improves living conditions. As plants grow, CO2 is stored in them. The amount of CO2 naturally depends on the type of plants, their density, and the season. A green facade also acts as a trap for particulate matter and other volatile organic compounds, such as cooking odors and odors from appliances and building materials.
In a green urban environment, the temperature can be at least 3°C-5°C lower than in a more urbanized environment. This is caused partly by the absorption of sunlight by the plants and partly by the evaporation of moisture from the walls and leaves.
Facades featuring greenery have high sound absorption properties, significantly reducing ambient noise levels. Finally, green facades promote biodiversity.
Planting options
The wall’s purpose determines the choice of plants. A vegetable garden growing strawberries, herbs, and vegetables requires different considerations than a low-maintenance privacy wall. Certain plants are ideal for a noise barrier next to a highway, while others are more suitable for the facade of a parking garage, school, sports hall, or residential building. We’ll work with you to create a plant mix tailored to your project and the surrounding environment.
