Two large edGreen walls have been installed at the offices of a freight forwarding center to break up the harshness of the building and draw attention to sustainability.
This building comprises nine apartments and a parking garage underneath the building and is located on Mont St Martin in Liège. The garden features two medieval city walls surrounded by greenery. It is difficult to give the building an appearance that is not historicizing and yet fits in with its surroundings. That is why it was decided to extend the green zone between the city walls upwards towards the building in the form of green walls. In this way, unlike the rest of the city, it remains a cool place. The ambient temperature among all this greenery can be three to five degrees lower in summer than in the paved city center.
This private individual has built a green wall in his backyard using red concrete blocks. The blocks match the various red stone patches that form the brickwork in the surrounding area. Stones with openings remain partially visible, revealing why greenery is growing in the wall.

This wild green façade is located at a gym in Hoenderlo. The tropical plants maintain a good level of humidity and give the office a less sterile appearance.
This green façade is one of the first to be realized after the test façade. This façade has made us realize that the green exterior walls that are installed would be better equipped with a web-based irrigation system. With a web-based system, the irrigation of the green wall is centrally controlled by edGreen. This prevents problems.

The existing building of the Netherlands’ largest fashion store in Nistelrode has been renovated and, in addition to a beautiful shop window, has been given a fantastic green wall on the parking lot. The greenery frames the fashion on display. The plants wave naturally from left to right. Given the north-facing orientation of the wall, mainly evergreen plants were chosen so that the wall also looks good in early spring. In spring, the blue-purple flowers of the Campanula appear, and during the summer, bright red geraniums brighten up the wall.

Entirely in line with the philosophy of the Kringwinkel, a sustainable, green flagship has been realized in Riemst. The plants wind their way around the protruding wall in a wave-like motion. The watering system is connected to the gray water circuit in the building.

The green wall at De Groene Draad school complex appears to be framed. The architect designed a steel frame in which the green wall was constructed at a height of 2.3 meters. The wall borders the school playground and conceals the steel facade of the sports hall from view.
In addition to all the benefits of greenery, such as temperature, acoustics, CO2, particulate matter, etc., the students can experience the seasons. The chosen plants look completely different in spring than in summer or fall.
Watering is done via a computer-controlled system and is monitored and adjusted remotely.

The first wall that edGreen (then still F2 Facade) created is located in Kerkrade. It’s a freestanding wall that encloses the parking lot of DMV architects. The wall is 2 meters high, partly made of brick and partly of half-brick. In the half-brick section, the plants are planted alternately on the DMV side and the neighbor’s side, creating a captivating composition.
Initially, 35 different plants were tested in the wall. Since then, around 40 varieties have been planted. Some are deciduous, some flowering, grasses, ferns, shrubs, and even strawberries, herbs, and tulips!

A 12,030 m2 school for pre-university education (TL), senior general secondary education (HAVO/VWO), and a 2,248 m² gross floor area (GFA). The school, comprised of these three departments, had to present a cohesive whole. Therefore, the building’s exterior design is simple. Two stories have been constructed in an H-shape, housing the various departments. The auditorium is located in the connecting branch. This auditorium, in turn, is directly connected to the two courtyards to the left and right of the auditorium, situated on the roof of the bicycle shed. To maintain a comfortable temperature in the courtyards, the facades bordering this courtyard were designed with green facades from edGreen. These green facades extend into the auditorium, enhancing the climate. This not only creates a green courtyard where students can relax, but also a vibrant green heart for the school, in the form of a green auditorium. The choice of plants was supplemented with herbs and fruits that could support a healthy diet at school.
